Is the white overblown? I didn't really have time to pose him. He is a quick little fellow.
I probably should have cropped out the grass.
My batteries died last night so I didn't get to upload this one from yesterday.

Make it a little easier on yourself- stay away from white! Also, stay away from mixed sun/shade combinations. Digital cameras can't expose both properly, so some detail always gets lost.
Here's something to try: aim your camera at the grass and adjust your settings so that the histogram bump is in the middle. Leave your settings there and shoot several shots in the same light the grass is in. That should give you pretty close to a correct exposure. It's the same idea as using a gray card, just not quite as accurate.
