There is nothing like hearing the words "I love you" for the first time. Whether it be from your lover or your children. I still remember the first time Fred proclaimed his love to me. It was Halloween 2000. Kidless, we partied our asses off. Well I did at least and Fred took care of me. Laying in bed, Fred whispered his love for me. In my drunken state, I still knew how serious it was. I uttered back the words. The next day, Fred asked if I still meant it. Of course I did! I love him! I do!
Fast forward today. Bodhi isn't much of a talker, unlike his sister. He is a boy of very little words. The least words the better. He has always been the cut to the chase type kid. Even when nursing. He would latch on get what he wanted and delatch. Often time he would even push my face away so I wouldn't watch him nurse. It was always about food until recently. Now I think he enjoys the cuddle time. When it came to food meals, he would yell and bang his hands until he got his food. As soon as he was done he was ready to get down from that chair. Nana and I would often joke that his date better be ready when he came to pick her up for dinner, and no small talk!
He has a handful of words: banana, mama, dada, duck (his favorite word), hi, bye, truck and maybe a few more words. Honestly, Bodhi has no motivation to talk. If he wants something, he will get it himself, which causes me more annoyances than convenience (which reminds me, we need to buy a lock for the fridge).
I keep hoping that Bodhi is just holding all his words inside. One day he will speak in full paragraphs. Bodhi didn't utter any sentences. No two worded sentences such as "more juice", "more please", or "want food." . You bet my heart melted when his first sentence to me was, "I love you, mommy," two days ago. This coming from the boy who choose to grunt and gesture until he gives up and just gets the thing himself.
No matter how many times I hear the phrase, it still melts my heart, whether it be from Fred, Desmina, and now Bodhi.

receiving a birthday card from your mom and dad.
or a gift certificate from a friend. My friend Amie sent me a GC for a vegan store. I already know what I'm getting: Tings and chocolate.
Love is sharing your beloved robot costume with your brother.

We have had this robot box for over a year. It was just a silly art project we did and M loves it. Now that B is getting older he loves it as well. I may just have to make another robot for Bodhi.

getting a package in the mail.
I have always loved getting mail. It's the mystery of what is in the envelope. With modern technology, mail isn't the same anymore. The fun of getting mail is opening the envelope. Breaking the seal very carefully and revealing the contents.
Mail is even more special when the sender takes the time do decorate the envelope.

So what's in the package?
Let's open the envelope very carefully...
A letter from Grechen and...

a sweater for B made from organic yarn!

See the eyelet? It's suppose to bring him luck and give him protection.
Thanks Grechen and Happy Love Thursday!

having a good birth team on your side to welcome new life.

I had an awesome birth team, which included Jeanne Browne, Trille and Kerri, my doula and of course Fred. Today was my two week visit. This is Jeanne. M totally adores her. I totally adore her. I do not want to imagine what my birth would had been without her. She totally rocks!!!!
S'ang is now 6 pounds 3 oz. He went down to 5 pounds 10 oz. He rolled over today! I don't know if it was a fluke or what. We were outside and he was in the portable crib. He started crying. It takes me forever to stand up now; by the time I got to him he went from stomach to back. I have to put him on his tummy again and see if he does it.

Reading a book together even though you had read it for the umpteenth time.

Desi has a ton of books. I am an avid reader and I hope to pass it on to her. I guess like all of, we have our favorites. She can read "Pumpkin Patch" from memory now. Some of her favorites are "Pigs in Love," "Baby on the Way," "I Need a Valentine," "Curious Geroge"( I change the words around a bit...zoo is animal sanctuary,) "Boo-Boo Book" and "Opposites."
